I am looking for help in how exactly to use the IFC_ExportOverrides.set file for export of IFCs from AECOsim.
I am finding that Data is being exported from the Family and Parts and being used as the material where as I would like the material to be driven from the Datagroup setting. As you can see below the Family Part "DrilledPier" has been used at the core instead of the Datagroup Material.
What mapping would I use to over write this on export?
I should add this is for AECOsim Connect Update 1
The property "Material" appears under a number of tabs in the Info segment of Solibri and they extract their information from different locations. Not all of those instances it seems can be remapped.
Are you trying to remap the "Material" property appearing under the "Identifications" tab only?
I am keen to understand whats pushing the Family Part information over the DG information.
Ideally the material on the "Identifications" tab should be from the DG mapping not Part mapping.
Is there a definition of what can be remapped on export?
In the IFC file the "Structural Usage" material which comes from the DG group is set as an IFCpropertySingleValue.
the only entry in the file defined as IFCMATERIAL is the "DrilledPier" entry which is coming from the Part. This only exists once.
So this is not a Solibri reading the file incorrectly it is purely reading what is in the IFC !! This would seem to be "hard Coded" In the export.
Can this be remapped? or added to the mapping options?
The mapping utilities are available from the IFC Export dialog.
However I believe IFCMATERIAL is hardcoded. IFCMATERIAL is a property that defines the name of the material which is why it displays the F+P name "DrilledPier". In the case of one of the AU dataset walls for example, the name displayed is "Brick Wall Reinforced".
Where the properties appear in the IFC viewer UI depends on how the vendor has chosen to present the information. FZK for instance shows data on a pile in various ways, including this view that clearly identifies type and instance properties:
Thanks Marc, I was afraid that is the case. Can I suggest you allow an option to choose between Family and Parts and DG for material.
As we push users towards DG settings we want to focus on the Data within the DG group only. We should not have to manage two data sets. We should have a choice.
The IFC Material property is the correct location for the material as far as I understand the IFC schema. The rest are property sets and therefore will be different in each Datagroup Catalogue potentially. At least I am aware of the problem for now but I think it would be good to have the option to switch between them.
