It would be great if we had a standard tool within Structural that allowed you to place 2D steel shapes for detailing. Bentley used to update steel.ma, if there a release for CE?

For this one it would be better if you file a Service Request with a bit more elaborate description of your requirement. If required we can raise this as an Enhancement Request for upcoming releases.

This utility has been delivered by Bentley for some time. See the link above in regards to delivering a Steel Utility. In the end we still need to deliver 2D details.

The Steel.ma utility has now been updated for CE and is available to download here. Instructions for using in are in an accompanying blog post.
For anyone who is unfamiliar with this utility it places 2D steel sections so can be useful in 2D detailing workflows where sections cut from 3D models are not available.
Watch out for further enhancements to our 3D structural modelling and detailing capabilities in future versions of OpenBuildings applications where we utilize ProStructures functionality within OpenBuildings.
