I am experimenting with modifying DetailingSymbolStyles.dgnlib to reflect what we use in our office. But it doesn't seem to work.
I have created a Default user and modified the file located at every place I can find.
C:\AECOsim-V8i-SS6\WorkSpace\Projects\Default\support\dataset\dgnlib
C:\AECOsim-V8i-SS6\WorkSpace\Projects\Default\dgnlib
C:\AECOsim-V8i-SS6\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_ANZ\dgnlib
No matter what I try, it always defaults to the delivered styles.
On the left is my modified Section symbol, and on the right is what happens when I create the section.
And this is what I see when I check on which cell is being used. The list shows all the cells 3 times.
Does this mean that it is showing the content of three files ? And if so, where are the extra files.
Is there something I am missing, and if so, what ?
Regards
Michael

Hi Micky,
Please take a look at this WIKI - https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/32805/how-to-create-or-edit-a-detail-symbol-in-microstation-connect-edition and also this one https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/building_analysis___design/w/building_analysis_and_design__wiki/20490/how-to-create-or-edit-a-detail-symbol-to-be-used-in-a-detailing-symbol-style
This blog might also be helpful https://communities.bentley.com/other/old_site_member_blogs/bentley_employees/b/mark_penns_blog/posts/how-can-i-create-custom-detailing-symbols
Please follow the steps mentioned in the WIKI's and let us know if you face any difficulty.
I have removed all the "DetailingSymbolStyles.dgnlib" files out of my search path, and removed the Detail Symbol model spaces from "DrawingSeed_Architectural.dgnlib" So in theory I shouldn't be able to find any Detail Symbol cells.
But that isn't the case. Where do these come from ?
regards
Some additional information.
When I remove "DetailingSymbolStyles.dgnlib" from \WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_ANZ\dgnlib and reboot my computer. for some reason AECOsim decides to reinstate the file at bootup.
Is this what should happen ?
Any chance you have DetailingSymbolStyles.dgnlib and/or DetailingSymbolCells.cel under your \projects folder as well?
Nope
I have searched the AECOsim directory for any DetailingSymbolStyles files.
All I found were the dgnlib file in \Projects\Building Examples\BuildingTemplate_NZ\ and \BuildingDatasets\.
And none of these have the Detail Symbols shown at the top of the list shown in my previous emails.
I can open each of these files and modify the section bubble, then open a file and place a section marker. The section marker doesn't show the modification.
The default cells are coming from some mysterious location that I can't find.
I can delete the dgnlib files and the cells still show up.
That is very odd... I tried a similar test by renaming those same files, and when I attempted to view/modify the Detailing Symbol I got an error because there were no libraries.
Perhaps you could use Configuration Explorer to help track this down?
I've managed to track it down.
My AECOsim and Microstation v8I are using ..WorkSpace\System\dgnlib\DrawingSeed.dgnlib as default to define the detailing symbols.
And my CONNECT versions are using C:\AECOsim-CE\AECOsimBuildingDesigner\Default\Dgnlib\DrawComp\en\DrawingSeed.dgnlib.
I have defined MS_DETAILINGSYMBOLS_CELLLIST = $(_USTN_PROJECTDATA)dgnlib/detailingsymbolstyles.dgnlib in my AECOsim v8I ucf file, but it seems to ignore this as it defaults to the DrawingSeed .dgnlib.
To get this to work, I have to delete the cells from the DrawingSeed.dgnlib files. Is this the correct way of doing this ?
