IFC Mapping are shown in red. I guess this is because the value of the path that locates the ifc_2x3_entities.xml file is incorrect or undefined. However; I can not locate the configuration variable that should have the correct path. Any ideas?
Assuming this is in V8i, please find the Project Configuration File (.PCF) and edit the value of the IFC_PROJECT variable to either 1 or 2 as appropriate. That may be the solution in this instance.
Marc
No this is not the case here. Any idea about which configuration variable points to the location of the IFC_2x3_entities.xml file?
Thank you!
At the moment I am facing another issue. Elements do not get exported even after I finished mapping them. Any ideas?
Firstly I would like you to check if IFC_2x3_Entities.xml exists in a similar location to this -C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i SsX\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_XX\data\classifications\IFC_2x3_Entities.xml
If it does, please go to the .pcf file and configure IFC_PROJECT variable to 1 or 2 as Marc suggested earlier. It enables the workspace to be extended with IFC2x3 property sets.
Both of them were done already.
Sometimes the elements get exported but with the following errors.
Is this a DGN file you created or is it from someone else? That first error seems to indicate that a component has a DataGroup property that does not exist in the dataset you are currently using. From there, it's a guessing game whether that is having a downstream effect when attempting to map from DataGroup components to IFC entities.
Someone else created the file. I am using ProjectWise integrated workspace. I do not seem to get it right no matter the way I try. I even tried to use the regular standalone workspace that comes with the building designer and the exported IFC & COBie spreadsheet were still empty! Any ideas?
It's irrelevant whether your dataset is managed by ProjectWise or local, the key factor is whether you have the same DataGroup components as the person who created the DGN file. If those components are missing in your dataset, they will not be mapped to corresponding IFC entities. The easiest test would be for you to place a few components similar to those already in the file, and then export again to IFC again. If your components are exported correctly then you'll need to work with this other person to figure out what it is you need.
