Can anyone help me with this?
I have a laptop and two additional monitors. Recently, the laptop was upgraded and replaced and the operating software was changed to Windows 10.
Since that change the view settings are not being retained and at every start up the second screen is overlaid on the first.....some toolbars are as they were left, but those along the bottom revert to the first screen. The previous laptop was fine. Both laptops had the setting of laptop as screen 1, the main working monitors were 2 and 3 respectively, left to right.
My settings are to open two application windows and save settings on exit. It is extremely frustrating to find that this happens every day.
Any information or suggestions on the topic would be welcome.
Hello Stuart,You can try regenerating your Preference files, please have a look at this WIKI for more information regarding the same.Hope this helps.Regards,Aditya
Hi Aditya
I have already tried this by giving the UPF a unique name. And to compound this further, all the toolbox and view icons reverted to small size yesterday for no apparent reason. I changed the settings and they came back okay, so it does appear to be quite random behaviour.
Stuart,
Perhaps creating a preference seed file is worth trying. If you ignore the Design History aspect this wiki outlines the process: https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/17493/create-a-seed-user-preference-file-spf-that-does-not-contain-file-history
Once you have that SPF file created it will used as a baseline for new UPF files. That way you can quickly get your desired layout back. Plus, you can more readily compare "before and after" states to better define what is and is not being retained.
Hi Steve.
Thanks for your response. This pointed me to several related articles, and I think I have discovered what may be the problem. Whilst I had created my own .upf file, having looked through the configuration files, the system appears to be pointing at the AECOsim default .upf file. I'll see if changing that affects the setup when I have a bit more time to look at it properly. Thanks again.
I'm glad that helped! Even if it was indirectly.
