Multiple monitor settings not being retained

Can anyone help me with this?

I have a laptop and two additional monitors. Recently, the laptop was upgraded and replaced and the operating software was changed to Windows 10.

Since that change the view settings are not being retained and at every start up the second screen is overlaid on the first.....some toolbars are as they were left, but those along the bottom revert to the first screen. The previous laptop was fine. Both laptops had the setting of laptop as screen 1, the main working monitors were 2 and 3 respectively, left to right.

My settings are to open two application windows and save settings on exit. It is extremely frustrating to find that this happens every day.

Any information or suggestions on the topic would be welcome.

  • Hi Stuart,

The positions of the two application windows are stored in your .UPF.

If you make any changes to your user preferences, are they stored successfully? If not that could indicate a problem writing to your .UPF. The location of this will vary according to the version you are using and perhaps also be affected by any customised configuration that is in use.

Which version of AECOsim Building Designer are you using?

  • Hi Marc

The UPF is obviously not retaining it's settings successfully - however, I would caveat this by saying in general the toolboxes that I normally use in view 1 are being retained in their original positions on the application window. But this is where it becomes rather odd. I have docked element info, level display, reference files, level manager and models in window 2 and they are okay. The tool boxes that are set up in window 2 along the bottom of the screen all move to window 1 (whilst the tools along the top are fine!!)......and as originally posted, window 2 overlays window 1 at start up.
