Hi,
We are starting to use the ISM exporter for our engineers to use in STAADPRO I believe.
We have a model with both Concrete walls, Floors, & steel frames. When we export we only get the steel members to export. We have been following the procedure out lined here and you'll see in step 4 the ISM translator is picking up members, solids & walls.
My only thought is that the Slabs and walls aren't part of the structural catalog, in a test model i can insert concrete beams & columns, steel beams and columns and pile/foundations and they are picked up in the ISM translator.
I've added walls to the structural catalog with similar definitions as the architectural walls yet they still wont come though.
Is there something simple that i have missed? or is there a mapping file that needs to be updated.

Hi David,
Please add Structural Attributes to your Slabs/Walls before exporting them to ISM.
Go to the Data/Reporting Tab, choose "Add Structural" from the Dropdown and assign it to the relevant Slabs or Walls, input Data based on your requirements.

I knew it would be something simple.
Is there away that we can do this automatically? Surely there must be a setting within the catalog which we could turn on? I can see a wall or two getting missed or like the situation that we have now where we have got a model and we need to go back through and add the data to each element

Welcome David.
As there is no fundamental difference between the properties of a structural and an architectural wall/slab, there lies a risk of non-structural elements also getting exported to ISM if this is a catalog property. Hence, if there is a slab/wall which we want to be used as a structural/analytical element, we need to add the structural data using the above mentioned workflow for these items.

Though the same principle could be see for steel work as architects now like using "non structural" steel in cladding and features
