Hi
In v8i we've used the tool "cut solids by curves" to create penetrations in slabs, walls and structural framework. It seems it don't work any more. What tool should I use instead? I've found the "construct opening" which works for openings. But for eg. a slab recess it don't work.
Regards,
Robert
Hi Robert,
I just made a small test case on one of the slab and it worked fine for me. Please go through and let me know if it helps you.

Hi Subhamoy,
you are in active workflow AECOsim/left-up/, switch to Modeling and Modify/ Features/ CutSolid works with any problem

Karol
Just to clarify the above, the "Cut Solid With Curve" tool under the Modeling ribbon > Solids tab is not the same as the "Cut Solids By Curves" tool under the AECOsim ribbon > Modify tab.
The dialog boxes are different and there is also a subtle color difference in the icon itself. FWIW, the MicroStation version is a new tool designed to work with Parametric solids, while the AECOsim version is the legacy tool from V8i. So as Robert noted, if customizing (or searching) you'll need to select the right version for use with Forms.
Hello again. Came across a new problem concerning this. The I've been using "legacy construct cut" for a while now, but tried to use it on my workset-created section, but that don't work. Why is that?
It's unclear what you mean by "workset-created section" in this context.
Sorry for that. But what I mean is that the tool works on eg. beams with sections stored in the dataset file. But when I create a section in my workset the tool don't work.
But when I come to think of it, could it be the section type? This is a "plate griders ext" I've created.
That is in fact the reason... good catch!
The information in this wiki explains that it is in fact a defect, along with two workarounds you can use in the interim.
