Cached Building Views CE U4

I am having some issues with building views that have been cached. This is my first foray into generating CE building views (i have been using SS6 for some time) and so far a have only begun using them with Spaces (I am adding these to my 2d background plans for initial presentation purposes).

However, when I set the Cach Synch to Automatic which in principle is great. Often (not always), many elements seem to go missing (there is no apparent pattern to what disappears). It seems the Cache gets broken and I am forced to change back to Dynamic and then back again to Cache so that it can be rebuilt (simply synching or reloading won't bring them back). So i cannot trust this in any way - too dangerous.

Is this a known issue. Is there something i need to look out for or best practice config to set?

  • Update! It appears this problem also occurs with Cache Synch set to Manual. When I reload a referenced building view some of the spaces disappear. What is the solution so that is can safely rely on this?

  • Hi Joey,

Is there any chance the references themselves may not be getting loaded properly?  Also, you're not unloading the references through MS_REF_NO_CVE_LOAD, correct?

  • The references are loading properly as far as I can see. My files are very basic at the moment... and only contain spaces.

When set to dynamic, there is no problem. It is only with cache views that a problem occurs (not always, but maybe every 3rd/4th synch/reload) where some of the spaces (not all) within a reference go missing.

It is almost like the cache 'engine' does not manage to finish through the reload process.

    MS_REF_NO_CVE_LOAD is undefined.

  • Steve,

I have further tested this with a new file and on a different 'test' workset.

    1. Created nine simple spaces (all with 2.8m height). I applied some parts and also some slightly different colours to help distinguish.

    2. Created floor plan (incl.drawing model, reference set to dynamic) based on 'out of the box' Arch drawing seed (cut elevation 1.2m)

    3. Go to drawing model (made some minor graphic changes (turned of grid, turned on spaces fill). As mentioned the building view is set as dynamic. Nesting depth is 99. All looks good.

    4. Now i set the building view to be cached with automatic sync. Still looks good.

    5. Then I go back to the design model and slightly reduce the size of one of the spaces (ie. the darker green one)

    6. I go back to the drawing model containing the building view and this is what I get. All except the edited space disappear.

    7. I switch the referenced building view back to dynamic and my spaces return including the slightly reduced space.

Can you please try this same test and confirm if this is just us and whether we have done something silly to our workspace/config of if this is a bug? I also attached the test file here if that helps.

    This really is annoying.

  • seems to be related to filled spaces only... I haven't yet replicated problem when spaces are left unfilled.
