Hi All,
is it actually possible to add custom electrical compound cells to the symbol manager. if so, How?
Thank you
Hello,Can you please raise a service request for this as it sounds like an enhancement. You can also have a look at theses wikis

Thank you very much Anik. will do just that.
Meanwhile, which particular cell library or DGNLib file hosts all the symbols within the dataset (GB) ?
Hi Henry,
Are you referring to the GB dataset's Symbol Library? If so, that would be C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_GB\symLibs\010\bescells.cel However, they're regular 2D and 3D cells, not Compound Cells.
Thanks Steve and good stuff. i have viewed them and you are correct they are not compound cells BUT how come when you insert these symbols into your electrical design file, they appear in both 2D & 3D......only a compound cell can do that. Please explain!
Also, with respect to this warning above, how can i add a new CATALOG ITEM to my Cable Carrier Fitting catalog type within the symbol manager......or do i just ignore this warning and what are the implications?
Please refer this image below for adding 3D to 2D symbol in Symbol Manager.
Cheers.
Hi Rag.....Thanks for the illustration above which tells you how to link the 2D and 3D cells to become one symbol BUT my question really is, Where do i create new/custom CATALOG TYPE and CATALOG ITEM for my symbols if the warning above is advising me not to create them Datagroup catalog Editor?
hi Henry,
Electrical catalog items will be automatically added once you add the symbol in the symbol manager.
When you add the symbol in symbol manager, ensure you have selected the correct IFC class for that particular symbol.
Once you insert the symbol in the model using any of the electrical symbol placement command, you will notice that the symbol is added in the Catalog Editor to the respective catalog type based on the IFC class.
