Would like to use the “floor manager” to add and modify our own "DataGroup properties" for "Site", "Building" and "Floor". Is this possible?
These properties should then be inherited to all objects in this building and floor. The objects require a position definition in which building and floor they are located.
(using AECOsim Building Designer V8i)
Ole,
What kind of objects are you wishing to assign these properties to?
Marc
I don't want to assign properties to objects, i want to assign the properties to the site, building and floor.
I have to do more research on Spaceplanner and spatial structure. At the moment i'm not able to assign objects (like walls) to a floor.
Sadly in my Version (V8i) the option "by Element Elevation" isn't listed. Only "Floor 1-6" and "Best fit: Floor 1".
Well then, you will have to manually select and add the Floor attribute manually (or use Spaces to collect your elements), and use the Add Instance Data tool. Then map the attribute to the corresponding IFC property for export.
As mentioned previously, be wary that anything in group or cell will not be reachable using the AID tool.

I can't find the option to add the "Floor attribute". Is there a documentation that i can follow.
There is no 'floor' attribute that comes as standard. You will have to add this to the DataGroup definition for each element you want to tag.... then use the AID tool to add the Floor number.
Wiki entry showing how a new attribute 'Construction Phasing' can be added.
Thank you for your explanation! Hopefully my last question: Did u mean AID or ADD tool? I never heared about AID, but if it is a typing error, my question is solved.
I assume Dominic was referring to the 'Add Instance Data' tool, not an acronym we use!
This allows you to assign Catalog properties to any element in a DGN file whether created in OpenBuildings, MicroStation or imported from other applications. Works for 2D as well as 3D.
