installation

i tried installing open building designer and couldnt find it listed in my apps

have i installed it wrongly?

    HI David,

    it's recommended to always specify what product version do you use, also to mention Windows version maybe helpful.

    When using AECOsim Bulding DEsigner and OpenBuildings Designer, it's important to start the product in a correct mode: There should be more "OpenBuildings icons" available, where "the right one" is OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition. But maybe you started the product using OpenBuildings MicroStation CONNECT Edition shortcut that starts the product in "MicroStation mode" when building tools are not available?

    i have re-loaded the software chosen united kingdom dataset 
    as you say i though perhaps i should be opening the software with a mechanical start like with aecosim
    the options from start are not there:
    the thing is that bentley support recommended that i install this because of the problems i was having with 
    aecosim ss6 
    electrical package not working properly
    mechanical pipework not working properly etc
    apparently these were fixed in open buildings

    its looking like the software isn't installing correctly

    when i open a file this is the first prompt

    the version was quoted in my bentley communities posting where i had listed the software that i had downloaded
    however this is it from within the software
