Microstation Connect to OpenBuildings - Merge and Copy issues

Hi,

I have a 3D model created in Microstation Connect and when I try to bring it to a new file created with OpenBuildings. I'm getting weird results.

This is the original model in MS:

This is what I get when I attach it and then merge it into a file created with OpenBuildings:

The extruded elements were built with the "constraints" tools, so I think there can be something not working correctly here.

Besides, after the merge, the file has a lot of new levels that were never in the original file, and that appear as "used" even if they are empty:

If I undo the operation, the geometry disappears but the reference stops working. It appears in the reference menu but there is no geometry visible. Also, the levels added in the previous operation remain and appear as "used".

If I try to copy the reference instead of merging it, the process runs for a while and in the end it fails with the following message:

If I try the same things between Microstation files everything works as expected.

Any ideas what can be causing this?

  • Hi Pedro,

Sorry about the post moving forums, resolved now.

OpenBuildings copies levels into all files from the Dataset to support creation of Dynamic Views (DV). When a DV is cut the Cut and Forward graphics are created in separate levels, the levels have to be in the file for this to succeed. Your screen grab is very small but I think all of the highlighted levels are suffixed '- cut' or '- fwd' so have been creted when a DV was cut.

The ‘Maximum dependency Callback iterations’  error is usually associated with spaces, have you placed Spaces in your model once it was in OpenBuildings?

I also see that you are being warned that elements are outside the Solids Working Area. Is you model located in a real-world position far form the design file origin (0,0,0)?

Elements constructed with MicroStation's parametric/constraints tools should operate correctly in OpenBuildings, however as this is a still developing feature set that we are actively enhancing there may be anomalies.

If you would like to send us your files to take a look at please do so either here or via a Service Request if you do not want to share them in a public forum.

Yes, I understand that, but the model is 3D, no sections made, and no parts applied. I understand the dgnlib is there so in the OBD file the levels come up, but they shouldn't be marked as "used".

Nope, just solids. The original file was created in MS.

I don't think so. The biggest coordinate is Z elevation, at 650 m.
