Hi
When I place e.g. a wall I choose both Catalog Type and then Catalog Item. These choices seem to get saved somewhere, are they? In that case, where?
Regards,
Robert
Hi Robert,
These preferences are saved in ABDStateData.xml which is located under your "prefs" folder.
Ok. I have some problem with it not saving, thought it may have something to do with the place it's saved, but that folder is writeable for all users. Must be something else then ...
Is there a particular configuration variable that points to the file I'm after, or is it included just by being in the prefs-folder?
I'm not aware of any variable that explicitly controls that one file.
If you place a wall that you haven't before, then exit OBD, does the time-stamp of that file not match up? Just trying to gauge whether changes are not being written to the file or not being read back in later sessions.
Hi again Steve.
I found this thread, seems to be what I'm looking for. But what variable decides where that .rsc-file is stored?

Ahh... forgot about that file. I'm not sure there is a specific pointer outside of TFDIR_DATA which designates the entire \dataset folder.
Ok, not a very good place to store it as we have a network configuration setup.
AFAIK the \dataset folder and its contents have always been defined by TFDIR_DATA. Is there a specific need for having it not be shared?
Ok. In our case, users often works in a project with only one kind of walls or slabs. It's kind of unnecessary work to have to switch between catalog types just because it doesn't save to the users settings.
Not that I've ever tried this before, but, each workset also has a corresponding \data folder...
If your users are mostly using specific catalog items how about adding some custom buttons running commands like:
TFPLACEMENT COMPONENT USERWALL Wall Innervägg, temporär, framtida
UK version shown below and covered in full in the wiki liked below
Adding a Custom Placement Tool to the Ribbon
