Call out Not Creating Saved View or Drawing in Sheet Model

AECOsim Building Designer SS6

Hi All,

In a COMPOSITE MODEL, i have generated a DRAWING and SHEET models in separate design files using the plan call out. Meanwhile, In the same SHEET model i am unable to generate SAVED VIEW or DRAWING using the section call out. It places the call out quite alright but this section call out is not linked to any saved view or drawing whatsoever.

I have been told by a colleague that for this to work, the composite, drawing and sheet models must all reside in the same design file as opposed to what i have done by separating each model into single design files. Is this a fact or an opinion? and more so, is there a way around this as i want all my callouts to be linked (Hypermodelling) to their respective saved views and models. Unfortunately, the BIM Execution plan (BEP) for the project i am currently working on dictates that all design, drawing and sheet models must be created as individually design files.

I welcome any useful suggestions as i look forward to hearing from you all

Thank you

  • Hi Henry,

It seems to work ok here in Ss6.   In the attached video I created new/separate Drawing and Sheet files from my active file, and in that resulting sheet file i placed a Section callout and generate new Drawing and Sheet models within that same Sheet file.

  • Hi Steve,

been a while and hope you are doing good.? Thanks for the brief video demonstration.....its seems to be working out for you. Meanwhile, just to be sure we are on the same page could you please send me a screen shot of the  MODEL dialog box in the active file (Test2.dgn).

Do you suspect any reason why I might be having this glitch with my SS6?

  • Henry,

The links between the source design model and the drawing and sheet models downstream are based on referencing, is there anything in your configuration that might be disrupting the references? Is ProjectWise involved in this case?

    Marc

  • Hi Steve in your "resulting sheet file" and using the section callout, is it possible for you to create the section DRAWING and SHEET models in separate/individual design files instead of the same sheet file as you have done previously?

  • Hi Marc,

was nice to meet you at the BIM conference the other day. At least now I can put a face to the name. Anyway, in response to your question, I don't have control of my UCF and I am purely working from a shared drive.
