I've created a new catalog type for light gauge steel studs. Now I want it to show as a column. How do I create that connection? To make it show here?

I created the catalog type by copy some lines from XML-files and change them.
If I use the place linear structural member I can see the the new catalog type
It's also placed in both the column group (which I guess don't make it a column since I created that group myself) and has column as a structural type.
Still its not there when I want to place columns. What more do I need to make it a column?

We strongly recommend creating new catalog items via the editor dialog to ensure that the XML syntax is all correct. The XML is not intended to be manually edited.
I've successfully run through creating a new column item in the SE dataset, and checked my steps against the video that Aditya posted.
Place Linear Structural Member will pick up user created items, mine appears in both tools:
