When i create a saved view and then use Named Group to show specific elements in the view, some thing weird is happening when i reference it.
After referencing it and choosing the name of the group in the Attaching Properties, the view does not show in the file i referenced it to unless i go back to the settings of the reference and change the Named Group into nothing and accept it. Then go back again and change it to the correct group name.
This should be done every time i open the file in order to see the reference.
Any one have faced such a problem before? If yes, please let me know how did u manage to fix it.
I apologize for my delayed response. This appears to be a bug in MicroStation platform and hence in all the products based on this platform.
This bug is already reported and is being worked on and will be fixed in an upcoming build of MicroStation and subsequently in OpenBuildings.
Can I check if this issue was ever resolved? We have just moved over to open building designer connect edition (update 6) I was previously using AecoSIM SS6 and never had this issue but I am now experiencing this issue when using named groups on references of 3D models that have been brought into a drawing sheet
Hi Andrew and previous contributors.
I can see similar behaviour to those reported above by recreating the abstract example previously illustrated.
One of the aspects of using named Groups with Cached views is that the cached elements in the view only show the visible edges (as shown in the pop-up above) so I'm not clear on what outcomes are being aimed for or expected in practice.
Please can you describe the real-world scenarios where Named Groups re used to control/filter the elements appearing in drawings?
This is how we isolate information for detailing without using thousands of levels. Currently we use on average 200 levels per model and sometimes it's not practical to go beyond this. Detailers prefer to choose how to break up parts at their own discretion and named groups provide this.
