  • Hi Abbas,

Can you please confirm whether this is an extraction or was it made in 2D from scratch?

  • Dear Mr Dhar,

This is exactly i dont know.It was made by our ex employer.Per as per my understanding it should be an extract. Otherwise it should be difficult in 2d to manually mark the AKS no and positions. My understanding is that in 3D, the 3D designer must have given attributes to all consumers, instrumetns and mechanical equipments and than afterwards there must be a features in bentley software to extratc these AKS information at different levels and different portions of layout. These equipment positions plan is mostly being used for the electrical company in order to calculate the cable lenght for all electrical consumers. I hope you might be able to help me out . Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Shariq,

Thanks for the update. You can check whether it's an extraction from the references dialog. If you see references in this model, try checking if there is a column for Visible Edges. The value for that column can have Cached, Dynamic or Legacy.

It can be cached or dynamic. But if you find a case like that, chances are it's an extraction. In that case, you can open the reference in a new session/window from the references dialog. That would quite possibly be the 3D model of this extraction. It would then be easier for you to modify the attributes by using either of Building Element Information or Properties for each of the objects (Right press on any object and you can find these options in the contextual menu). For an overview of all the object attributes and their default values, you can also check the DataGroup Catalog Editor for this project.

Please let me know if this helps.

  • Dear Mr Dhar,

Thanks for the reply. I tried to dig deep with the information provided by you but not able to get into the result i am expecting. It is because i do not have much experience using AECOSIM building designer. May be i will have to search some tutorials of taggings instruments, consumer and valves in 3D model and converting this 3D model into 2D. Hopefully after doing having a look into these tutorials( if available), i would be able to track my desire result and info. Anyhow thanks for your support and time.

  • Hi Muhammad,

Just to add...   It's near impossible to tell from the screen capture whether the method used to generate the 2D drawing was "Drawing Extraction Manager" or "Dynamic Views", but if you search the Help file for these topics you will find information describing how each process works.

In addition, the annotation/labels applied to the elements in the drawing could be based on the "DataGroup System", which is AECOsim's native schema format for adding properties to elements.  Depending on what it is you need to change, it may be a matter of modifying element property values which should result in that annotation updating in the drawing, or perhaps simply moving the elements to change the dimensions between elements.    Again, difficult to say for sure.
