I've created some new part types. I've also set some existing catalog types to use these new part types.
Is there a simple way to update existing elements in design files to use the new default part instead of it's existing? Seems the upgrade datagroup-tool don't really do this?
Maybe trough a keyin or a VBA-script?

Hi Robert,
The Verify Part and Family Utility should show any parts that vary from the current catalog, you can then select them in the list and apply the appropriate part by making it active, this has the advantage that it will report any missing parts:
The example above shows some element that I placed in the UK dataset, when the file is opened in the SE dataset the UK parts are missing.
Or use the Modify Type, although I'm not certain how it would work in that context.

I still have the old part type left, so it doesn't show in red as yours do.
What do you mean by modify type?
