Rectangular Duct Angled Takeoff

AECOsim Building Designer SS6. Version - 08.11.09.829

Hi all,

Below, i am trying to trace an existing smart solid duct (shown in transparent colour) in order to replace it with AECOsim duct (shown in brown colour) then later delete the envelope. Meanwhile, i am finding it difficult modelling the angled takeoff bit as most of the tools i have tried don't seem to be working form me.

Also, below i would like to know how to join two ducts without a curved elbow. I want them squared off as shown in the red lines.

i would appreciate if anyone can send me a short video/s to demonstrate how i canb achieve any of the above.

Thank you

  • Hi Henry,

Please find image below and set Elbow Options: Mitered in Autofitting Preferences to get squared off as is shown in your image.

    Thanks & Regards!

  • Hi Argh,

Million thanks.Worked perfect as soon as i changed the Autofitting Prefrences to "Mitered". Meanwhile, which tool/s do you think would be the best to complete the remaining take off bit of the system highlighted below

  • Hi Henry,

Try below steps to achieve this:

    1. Invoke a rectangular transition (enter the connection1 & 2 lengths as you need) and then right click on property to 'set as default autofitting parameters)

    2. Invoke rectangular duct and select placement point as 'bottom center' and place a duct and then (without coming out of the duct command) change the duct size as required and place

    3. You should get a bottom flat transition as shown in the image

Refer the attached video file for details. Let me know if it helps!
