We have some 3D model dgn files from previous projects. Is it possible to import these into OBD for training purposes for setting up clips etc and applying "Parts" information to?
Not crucial but just interested to know.
Many thanks

Hi Keith,
The DGN file format has been stable for around 20 years so existing DGN files can either be opened or referenced to new files.
It is probably worth undertaking a basic clean up of the files using the Compress Tool to remove any unwanted content before proceeding, please refer to this wiki for guidance on use of the Compress Tool and its options.
As the existing files were created in MicroStation the best workflow would be to create new empty files in OBD, reference the existing files, then copy through the content. This is to ensure that your files have the correct working units for use with OBD, MicroStation files generally use a lower resolution.
Also check the location of the content in the existing files. If it lies outside the Solids Working Area, move the references close to the 0,0,0 point in the new files before copying through.
See Series Index - Setting Up in the Real World for the background to these recommendations.

Thanks Marc for the detailed reply. I wil be good and try and check through everything. It's difficult when you have workload as well as trying to do training!
