datagroup / catalog definition / active attributes

Hi,

is there an existing catalog definition (or how to define) for active attributes (level, color, class, ... ) to attach to catalog items
where active attributes can be set for placing walls / slabs / .... I want to preset some of the attributes

I want to make sure a wall is placed in primary class, an opening(element) in construction class

  • HI RikR,

The datagroup systems is limited to  the meta data you what to track and record for reporting purposes.  The family and part system  takes care of the element attributes, however even this does not extend into Element Class. As far as I am aware all walls does and slabs etc will be primary class.

Can you give some use cases of how  you create openings and why you need them to be Construction class. How do you want opening elements to behave once they are a construction class?

  • Hi,

the active class is used when placing elements, also for walls,  objects ....

but there is not a "change element class" for datagroup elements (the "change element" tool does NOT affect datagroup elements.
so if the active class is set to construction, the wall is placed in construction
now I want to reset it to primary class
it would be nice to have this setting in the datagroup definition so when placing datagroup elements the class is set to the desired class

maybe an extra setting for the "apply part" tool?

    regards Rik
