Hi all,
I'm new to this software hence the probably simple question I'm about to ask. I have the Open Buildings Designer CONNECT Edition and can't seem to locate the very useful looking task bar seen on the left-hand side of all the youtube videos and tutorials explaining how to use the software. Can someone please tell me where I can find this as it is driving me crazy. I have to stop the video I'm viewing to look for whatever tool they're talking about as they can access quickly on the toolbar I'm referring to. All help is much appreciated and thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Jack.
Hi Jack,Can you please let us know the version of OpenBuildings Designer you are currently using? You can find the version following this wiki. Also share with us a screen grab of the task bar you are searching for. Looking forward to assist you further. Thanks & Regards!
I'm using Version 10.0.18362 Build 18362
10.0.18362 Build 18362
Hi Jack, where did you find that number?
You should see a dialog like this:
Marc
Hi Jack,Thanks for your response.
Task navigation is disabled by default in OBD CE because we did a lot of UI consolidation between V8I and CE nor do we deliver the V8i task navigation files because if we did it would result in errors and obsoleted commands.
Although you can enable the task navigation for their environments, it is controlled by cfg var MS_HIDETASKNAVIGATIONWORKFLOW, set it equal to 0 to expose it on the workflow tab.It will look like the image below once you enable this option: Only MicroStation tasks is what you can get using this, there's no building tasks available here, since we have enhanced it to ribbon based workflow. Thanks & Regards!
Thanks again for your help.
The problem I am having is that there is no mention of task navigation in the drop down list and therefore the select task icon in which you demonstrate above is unable to be selected. I have gone to file - settings - user - tasks which gives a brief description "Open the Task Navigation user interface" but once I select this icon, it jumps back to the model with the tool I was using previously, for example Element Selection.
I don't understand what you mean when you refer to the below but I'm guessing this might be what I need to do to rectify the matter. I've copied into the search bar but had no matches. Can you simplify what I am supposed to do. Appreciate your assistance.

Hi Jack,You need to search for configuration variable in the search box on the top right hand corner of the ribbon:Then you need to search for the variable MS_HIDETASKNAVIGATIONWORKFLOW and edit it's value to change it to 0, click on OK as shown in the image below:
On clicking on OK another dialog pops up corresponding to the image below, click on Yes:Do a Save Settings from File>Save Settings, close the application and relaunch OBD.On relaunching OpenBuildings Designer you will find Task Navigation in the workflow tab, from there click onto the tasks icon just beside the workflow dropdown and choose V8i Task Theme.Hope this helps. Thanks & Regards!
