As well as trying to get through the OBD 3D BIM training I have now migrated over to OBD for our 2D work from AECOsim MicroStation Select Series 6 to assist me with using the new interface. I tried to migrate the workspace but this didn't seem to work, so I have manually set the configuration variables and everything is now working almost as it was before, even managed to get the system to find my custom pop up menu.. Two issues / queries though:
1: Used to working with docked menus on all sides of the screen for common tools. Can't seem to find a way to replicate that. Is everything contained in the ribbon now?
2: I use a only four function keys now, as I found others I setup were not much value to me due to how I work with lots of mouse actions and minimal key ins as the first two and last two are easy to find while not looking at the keyboard!. However, I have created the four in the new OBD and although when you close the edit box the function keys work, it won't save them when reopening the program. I have tried all of the various save options and pointed the configuration variable to it, but it just defaults to the installed funckey menu even if I overwrite it. [I created new workspaces at the start just with KC on them to select from and assumed all of my customisations would be saved under that. Still no luck.
The F keys are quite simple and work once inputted:
F1: Powerselector deselect
F2: Group
F11: Stretch Icon
F12: Active angle=0 [With a combo with ctrl for active scale=1
Any advice or fixes greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Kieth,
Most tools are now in the ribbon, Ctrl + T will open the Toolboxes dialog if you need to find older toolboxes, however the ribbon has various elements of context sensitivity that bring additional tools into focus (just like Microsoft Office).
F-keys are stored in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Bentley\OpenBuildingsDesigner\10.0.0\prefs\Personal.OpenBuildingsDesigner.funckey.mnu" but only once changes have been made.
I strongly recommend retaining the default values for F1 to F12, several of these are fundamental to CONNECT Edition keyboard operations

Thanks Marc, I have managed to get a couple of my keys to save now and the Ctrl T is great!
