Hi
We have an issue which is irksome to say the least.
We installed ABD with the GB data set, which is supposedly the one to use.
Opening on the desk top all is good.
But if we create or open a file on PW, then access the data set lib, it shows as US_dataset.
The PW database belongs to the client, we have passport access.
I am looking for a reason this is happening so I can pass onto the client, as they claim its not their configuration issue.
1. MANAGED PROJECTWORK SPACE IN PLACE BY CLIENT
2. SE5 AND SE6 ABD
3. LAUNCH PW, THEN RIGHT CLICK/OPEN
4. NOT KNOWN
5.08.11.11.590
oh and PW server i beleive is hosted by bentley... company Flo (UK)
Hi Chris,
For AECOsim you can find our (Building team) compatibility matrix here: https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/building_analysis___design/w/building_analysis_and_design__wiki/30885/aecosim-building-designer-product-compatibility And yes, compatibility should absolutely include using a managed workspace - that's really the crux of using the two products together.
However, keep in mind that AECOsim Update 3 was released in April of 2018, so it predates PW 10.00.03.280 by almost two years.
Yes I saw that matrix Steve, thanks, but it stops at PW 140...
Let me ask in a different way, which version of ABD or OBD is fully compatible with PW 280?
Secondly, it would be useful to know which version of Microstation is underlying which version of ABD/OBD... Because all told in the end Microstation is the basis for all these other monikers... In fact I'm thinking Bentley would benefit from having just Microstation with various interface options instead of the myriad of separate products, but I digress...
I've worked with our QA team to completely update the Compatibility Matrix: https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/building_analysis___design/w/building_analysis_and_design__wiki/41698/openbuildings-projectwise-compatibility The biggest change is that PW versions 03.271 thru 03.334 are now supported with OBD and OBSD U5, U6 and U7, and that does include build .280.
Regarding using MicroStation as a common platform for PW compatibility, while that is mostly true, a version combination is only considered supported when that combination has been tested by each product team. I wouldn't want to be the person trying to maintain all supported combinations for all available MicroStation based applications.
Thanks Steve appreciate it, that's useful.
I don't suppose there is any way to have a definite answer on ABD CE update 3 in respect to PW 280? I've come to a reasonable Managed Workspace configuration, however I had to add a few items to the CSBs outlined in the " Aecosim Designer CONNECT Edition ProjectWise Managed Configuration Deployment Guide" Version 1.2 – June 2017... And trying to have WorkSets located outside the main configuration folder didn't pan out too well. I wonder if OBD update 5 is more flexible in that respect...
However, for now it works so...
You're welcome! And thanks for pointing out that missing data.
In regards to Update 3, unfortunately that will never be a tested combination with PW .280. I don't recall the specifics at this point, but there was a change in PW 03.167 to specifically support OpenBuildings vs. AECOsim, hence OpenBuildings only supports back to 03.167 while AECOsim only supports as far as 03.140.
The PW Deployment Guide 1.2 is the right one for Update 3, so I'm not sure what the issue might have been. But if you're considering Update 5 (or later) you'll want to use the later OpenBuildings Deployment Guide for ProjectWise Managed Configurations v1.1.
