I am currently using Aecosim U4 which I understand is based on Mstn CE U11.
1. I have attached Items info to solids in a 3d model.
2. This model is referenced into a 'Container' model where the DV's are placed.
3. The DV Drawing models generated by each DV is saved as separate models in the Container model.
4. The DV Drawing models are referenced into a Sheet Drawing model within the Sheet file. This is presumably to ensure that when the Sheet models are published as DWGs you get the usual model:paperspace arrangement.
5. The Sheet Drawing model is referenced in the Sheet model and annotated there. No annotations are allowed in any of the other models.
I was expecting to be able to use the Place Label tool in the Sheet model... like this promo vid, but discovered that it does NOT extract the Items info inputted in the 3d model.
1. Place Label tool works in the 3d model as advertised. Bravo!
2. PL tool does not work in the Container model. 'Element is in a ReadOnly Reference' Items are visible in the Properties Panel. Changing to CVE does not help.
3. Ditto for the DV Drawing models
4. Ditto for the Sheet Drawing model
5. Ditto for the Sheet model
What am I missing or has this been fixed in a later update? If so, which Update?
Hi Dominic,
Do you mean the Place Label tool from the Drawing workflow > Annotate > Notes tool group? If so, yes, that one doesn't appear to work with referenced elements.
Is this something you recall working differently before or is this the first time you've used this tool? FWIW, I can't say I ever use it myself...
Yes.
First time (un)lucky.
It's seems like development wasn't briefed on how users annotate stuff.
Just tried in Mstn 14... unsucessfully. Even worse, Mstn crashed when I switched the DV to Dynamic and clicked on the Item'd element using the Place Label tool.
Not sure how how Shawn McGaffick got it to work in his demo vid.
OK, thanks for confirming. You may want to post this on the MicroStation community forum too. Since it's a base MicroStation tool perhaps others there will have more feedback.
