Hi. I need to export the models to ifc and include the item types:
I export to ifc but I don't understand why they are not in ifc:
thank you very much!!
Hi Santiago,
IFC Export requires that the elements have DataGroup data applied - this is the primary method for mapping DGN elements and their properties to IFC entities. You can also use Family + Part assignment as an alternative, but it's not nearly as flexible. Although this wiki is a bit old, you can find more information here:

thanks Steve, but the problem continues, I explain:
1. I have created a list of item type PSETS.xlsx: 2. I have imported it to the item type section: 3. I have associated 2 item type ("ACAT_") to a wall: 4. I export to ifc: 5. I open the ifc and the item type "ACAT_" that links are not there. If there are the proper psets of the wall can you please help me? Thank you!
Just to be sure we're on the same page, item Types and DataGroup items are two different things. You can find the Attach Instance Data in the same tab as the Item Types tools:
Select the Catalog Type and Item from the list and select the element.
Thanks for the clarification Steve, but that's not the problem. I have some external parameters, which I introduce to OpenBuilding via item type and assign them to objects, this is easy. The problem is that when I export the objects to ifc the item types are not in the ifc. To enter my psets in the OpenBuilding catalog, can I only do it manually? I have many external psets ... Do you understand me?
I am attaching the list.
Thank you very much!!4375.PSETS.xlsx
Our IFC export tools map Catalog Item data to IFC properties, it does not work with Item Types.
There are broadly three steps:
1. Create new Catalog Definitions for your custom parameters
2. Attach these to the relevant Catalog Items.
3. Map each of your custom properties to the appropriate IFC class.
