Hi. I need to export the models to ifc and include the item types:
I export to ifc but I don't understand why they are not in ifc:
thank you very much!!
Hi Santiago,
IFC Export requires that the elements have DataGroup data applied - this is the primary method for mapping DGN elements and their properties to IFC entities. You can also use Family + Part assignment as an alternative, but it's not nearly as flexible. Although this wiki is a bit old, you can find more information here:
https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/building_analysis___design/w/building_analysis_and_design__wiki/8315/export-to-ifc-mapping
thanks Steve, but the problem continues, I explain:
1. I have created a list of item type PSETS.xlsx: 2. I have imported it to the item type section: 3. I have associated 2 item type ("ACAT_") to a wall: 4. I export to ifc: 5. I open the ifc and the item type "ACAT_" that links are not there. If there are the proper psets of the wall can you please help me? Thank you!
Hi Thomas,
Is there a way to map itemtype to datagroup definitions? or can we use similar expressions as Itemtype into datagroup definitions?

Jaimin Patel
Why is Bentley always so half-assed with this kind of stuff ? This should be a simple export process, but as always it becomes a major time wasting process due to the complete inflexibility of the software design
Refer to image above, you need to upload your model to itwins and do the .ifc export from itwins then all the itemtype will come in .ifc export. As far as I know, there is no direct way to get itemtypes in .ifc export straight from OpenBuildings.
cannot load dgn files into itwin ..... because "bentley"
Hi Mike,
itwins is bentley platfrom, not only you can use .dgn files, it supports .dwg and .rvt formats too.
