I have upgraded to OBD Update 7 and I see all kind of weird new issues...but this one is a strange one.
I make copies of models within the same file all the time...but now in update 7, the new model content is there but all its references from the source model are not? The attachments are dropped.
This is an annoying problem that I have never seen before and it only started after I started using Update 7?
Thanks,
Gary
Hi Gary,
Not seeing that happening here, just created a model, attached a couple of references, copied the model, all good.
Can you send us a sample of a file that is misbehaving?
are the models 2D or 3D?are the references to models within the same file or to external files?
Marc
Hi Marc,
My files are typically large 100+ MB so it makes it harder to provide a sample.
I have been doing some investigating and noticed one thing you can test.
Most of my referencing are internal, and when I make a copy of a "Drawing" model, I lose my references, when I make a copy of a "Design" model, the references are kept.
Can you test that on your end?

I just tried a simple test and it worked OK here.
The problem for me seem to be sporadic and not file specific.
Here is a link to a video of copying a model and losing the reference attachment.

Not sure if this is related, but what does this message center message I get after switching model mean that states that "Used dimension system is imperial"? I don't recall seeing this msg before.
hi gary
it seems to me that Drawing model has to have at least one attachment with orientation coming from Saved Views & then if you make a copy of this Drawing model, you don't lose any references
in this example below I've made a Saved View from standard top view. & it seems working for me.
Hi Andri,
I can't agree with this being a requirement? References are not always attached with saved views.
Are you suggesting that if you attach the same model without a saved view, it does not work for you when you copy the drawing model?
this is not a requirement, this is a workaround for this problem that seemed to work for me.
it seems to be enough when you have even non-displayed attachment with orientation coming from Saved Views.
All the others can be attached "normally"
to make all this easier I've made "top view" Saved View in design- & drawingseed files. So every file that will be created has this option when attached.

Andri, can you confirm that you have come across this issue also? I have not seen anyone else complain of this happening so I'm obviously wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this?
If so, has it only started since Update 7 was installed?
I just started with OBD update 7 (before I was working with AECOSIM series 6) & was checking my workflow, saw your post, tried out & had similar issue.
I haven't tried previous versions of OBD.
