Hi All!
I am trying to add Instance Data to Parametric Cells similar way how it was with normal cells and it doesn't work.
Have anyone experienced something similar?
I can't find Instance Data I have attached under the Explorer-Models-Items.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers
Wojtek
Applying Instance Data after cell placement works:
Are you referring to preparing a Cell by adding Instance Data to it in the library? The route to do that would be to add a new Catalog Item that used the parametric cell. Instance Data can be added to a cell in a library, but it would not be visible once placed.

Marc
Hi Marc,
I can agree that that it is possible to add Instance Data to the element in cell library but when placing that cell information are not visible.
As far as I remember that was a way round to keep this data after placing the cell by adding them not to the element itself but to the whole model in (.cell) file :
When I do this it looks like they are added properly but they are not listed (I check that by repeat procedure and then i get information that Instance Data to the model are already attached).
When placing that cell information still not follow.
Regards,
I'm looking into what our recommendations and future plans are for this workflow/requirement. Parametric Cell development is still in progress.
Thank you for your answer.
I would like to add here one more thing - as we can add Family and Parts or Instance Data after placing the cell to the model (it is not end of the world) but even after this operation when creating section it is not displaying the cut properly as it should according to Family and Parts. I think it is related to the cell as I have created parametric solid next to my parametric cell within that model and after adding the same Family and Parts it displays (the parametric solid) on the section cut properly.
Kind Regards,
Just so we understand the context better, what is the task/workflow here?
We have ways to display the symbology via adding Catalog Items as mentioned, Named Presentations might also be an alternative, however I'm assuming you are after something quicker that does not involve you in additional preparation or modelling tasks?
It is a good idea what you mentioned via adding Catalog Items. I believe we have used that before but will that be useful if we want to place this cell from Component Centre as it is out of workflow?
