OBD ProStructures Plates

The base plate tool works quite well, as does the end plate tool.

I like that you can adjust the number and setout of holes for each of these and even show the bolts and add gusset plates.

But....

1. Why can't I create an "end plate" without connecting it to another member?
I have tried using the "plate" tool, but you cannot add holes like with the base plate or end plate tools.

2. When using the end plate tool, if the members aren't perfectly aligned the tool will not work, why can't I offset a member slightly, so long as they are touching?

3. Is there a way to make a circular end/base plate??

4. I've noticed in ProStructures there is a "cover plate" tool - will this be coming to OBD in future releases?

  • As I understand it the End Plate tools is intended for use when adding end plates to members. The Plate tool would be used for independent plates, AccuDraw can be used to control the orientation of a plate.

Once the plate placement is commenced, input focus goes to the X field of the AccuDraw dialog (highlighted in black as shown below), the AccuDraw shortcut E can be used to rotate the plate to the X, Y or Z axes:

I see that the options for holes are not present and am looking into that.
