I am using OBD Connect
I am trying to pattern a slab in a plan DV. I can set a display rule to achieve a solid fill and other overrides but when I try to set a pattern or even a hatch / crosshatch they will not display anywhere, model, drawing view, sheet.
I have toggled Pattern in the View Attributes on and off, I have switched between visible edges / filled visible edges / shaded and checked the rule logic. No effect.
The rule is ELEMENT IS Slab > Hatch Area...
Hi Bruce,
To clarify: am I correct in understanding that you wish to hatch a plan view of a slab that you are looking down on in plan view. That the slab is not intersected by the DV Cut plane?
Marc
Yes that's it. I get cut patterns just fine.
I've just tried applying a geometry pattern map too but I'm not getting that to display either
A hatch can applied to shapes via a Display Rule, but not solids, forms, surfaces, etc.. The simplest way to check is to manually apply a hatch/pattern to the element itself - if you can't then that element cannot be hatched via a display rule. I think this is because the display rule is using the Element method. The Flood method works in these cases because it looks for enclosed regions, but that's not what the display rule is doing.
So, Geometry Maps would be the way to go. I know you said that it's not working but it should - are you using a delivered Family + Part with its default material? If so that should be simple enough to check here.
