Thanks RikR. I did some testing and for me it didn't have a big impact. But my colleague had her loading time cut by half. Great trick.

I wonder if there are more ways of shorting the loading time. This is a major problem now when everyone is working from home with sometimes very slow connection speed.

Hi,

rendering slows down the time design files need to open,
so I set the configuration variable in the workset.cfg file:
TFPART_RENDER = 0

this speed up the work

if I need to have output rendered, I just change the setting in the cfg file to
TFPART_RENDER = 1
and drawings are rendered
this affects the whole project,

better could be a setting in the ribbon to easily toggle the rendering
just like "autoannotations"

My Geometry maps option in the display styles dialog is greyed out. What could be the reason for that?

Hi Robert, these are geometry maps assigned to those materials, you could modify those materials to no longer use a geometry map:

or modify the active display style:
