Imodel plugin for Revit 2021

Hi,

I have got a question from our Revit users. They have been upgraded to Revit 2021 and are missing the Imodel plugin they had access to in the Revit 2020 version.

Are there any information of when the plugin for Revit 2021 are available for download

Best Regards

  • Hello Ole,

There is no plan to release a imodel plugin for now as we are focusing more on i-model hub and brand new RevitBridge based on third-party ODA BimRv library.
If those Revit users have used the imodel plugin for Revit 2020 then they can manually register the plugin for Revit 2021 by copying the %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2020\Revit.ExportDWG.addin file to %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2021\ folder. Please try this workaround and let me know if it helps you.

  • Hi Alifur,

Thank you for your suggestion. I have had a user to test it. I didn't workout for him.

Are there some additional information's we need to ensure that we can use the 2020 Add-in in Revit 2021 ?

If we can't get it to work, then what? How do share models between Revit and Microstation and vise versa? As far as I know the IFC capabilities is lacking in a lot of Microstation products,

    Best Regards

    Ole

  • Hello Ole,

    Few question from our developers,

Is i-model panel appeared? - May it be the add-in loading was rejected by user (Revit asks permission at first time)?

Is "Publish" button inactive? - Some 3D view should be active.

  • Hi Alifur,

I got this working, but I had to make sure I have an older version of Revit to install the files in C:\Program Files\Bentley\imEW for Revit\, copy the .addin file to Revit 2021.

All we need is the exact same installer for older Revit versions that is identical but copies just that one file into the newer versions Addin folder? Can we just get something that installs the files to the Bentley folder without checking Revit version and users manage the Addin file as needed?

    Regards,
