Hi there
Having an issue when entering to a existing model / drawing file. it will just shut the program down , without going into the model / file.
This happens when you shut the program down and double click on the desktop shortcut. So starting fresh , it doesn't do it when you go into another file without closing the program.
This is only happening to U8 machines.
Attacked is the front screen , i click on the right workset then the file i want to go into , then its a desktop screen or it will open up .
Hi Ben,
Does OBD open when you create a new file?
If so are you able to attach an existing file as a reference (just as a diagnostic step)?
You say this is only happening to U8 machines, implying that other machines are still running U6. We made significant changes to the configuration content after U6 to support the incorporation of ProStructures functionality. If this content and related configuration is not present that will affect application behaviour.
Did you set up a U8 Configuration alongside your U6 or are your U8 machines attempting to use U6 WorkSpace and WorkSets?
Marc
Marc , i have setup my U8 alongside my U6 workspace, so the U6 machines arent looking / touching my U8 workspace.
i have a text file with the windows event pasted in it , its saying
- Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\OpenBuildingsDesigner\OpenBuildingsDesigner.exe- Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\ucrtbase.dll
i can send the whole text file
Hi Ben, please send the whole text file. That may give us some more clues.
ucrtbase.dll is Microsoft C++ Visual Studio module, has your machine had any windows updates recently?
Another possibility is that ucrtbase.dll might have been modified in some way by a Microsoft Office update. It is just possible that a repair install of Office might fix it.
This is not a file that we install, but I guess we make use of it like a lot of other things in Windows.

Hi Ben, sorry, I misunderstood which file you were offering, please send us the latest exception log from:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Bentley\OpenBuildingsDesigner\10.0.0\ExceptionHistory\ExceptionHistory-1\Exception.log
(Pasting %Temp%\Bentley\OpenBuildingsDesigner\10.0.0\ExceptionHistory\ExceptionHistory-1\ into the Windows File Explorer address field will take you direct to the folder)
0576.Exception.log
have you found anything ?
is there anything i can talk to my IT guy about this issue , it is only happening to Opening Building Designer U8 on my machine
