Hi everyone,
I'm exporting a .dgn file as a .ifc file, but when I do I lose any assigned materials (regardless of if it is by level or by individual element). Not only that, but the .ifc file has all elements in red, regardless of the colour they were in the .dgn. I'm wondering if I can maintain the assigned materials through the mapping options when I export, but I'm not familiar with data groups or families, and my attempts at doing this have been unsuccessful. If I can't maintain materials, is it possible to control what colours elements are in the .ifc?
I'm currently using OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition Update 8, Version 10.08.00.44.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Tom
Hello Tom,
In OpenBuilding Designer, so far the colors that we are seeing in the IFC is same to that we see in Wireframe mode in OBD. See the attached image.
Can you please raise an SR on the same so that we can talk with development team about having the material colors same as dgn in IFC file too.
Regards,Alifur
Hi Alifur,To be clear, I'm not sure it is an issue with OBD but rather my understanding of the process. I've included a before and after screenshot of converting from.dgn to .ifc with no other changes. The level used has been created by myself and as far as I'm aware has no links to a family etc. Thanks
Till now, if we export a dgn file to IFC, only wireframe colors will be visible in the IFC. None of the material color will be visible in the IFC. If in DGN file, in the wireframe mode it is red, the IFC material color will be red, if it would be green in dgn wireframe then it will be green in the IFC file.
