Hiding edges of Clip Volume in a Saved View

AECOSim Connect Update 4

I've created a Clip Volume, then used that as the basis for a Saved View

Please see screenshot below

At the edges of the Clip Volume (which is turned OFF in the Saved View), there is a line, which isn't actually part of the building, or any building element. It is created when the CV clips a slab (or some other element part way through). In the screenshot these are indicated by the red 'rectangles'

N.B. There was also one at the bottom of the image, but I managed to hide that with the masking tool

I seem to recall some will back (around 20104!) at some Bentley Seminar/Presentation, it was stated that in the 'next version' the ability to remove or hide these lines would be incorporated.

Did that ever happen? If so, how does one go about doing this

    Please confirm the values of two configuration variables:

    _USTN_SUPPRESS_CROPPLANESECTIONGRAPHICS (introduced in V8i, would have been at a  what's new in SS6 session in London)

    MS_SECTION_BACK_VISIBLE_EDGES (new in CE)

    Both of these are on by default and only affect cached views. Is your view cached or dynamic? If cached you also have the right-click option to hide unwanted elements (note that if a cached view is changed back to dynamic any hidden elements will be lost when the cached view is recalculated as all cached elements IDs will be different).

    For the record

    _USTN_SUPPRESS_CROPPLANESECTIONGRAPHICS is set to ‘1’

    I can’t find the other config 

    MS_SECTION_BACK_VISIBLE_EDGES

    Are you sure it’s not new to OBD and not AECOSIM CE?

    Anyway, we are using ‘dynamic’ for the Saved Views rather than ‘cached’. This is because originally we tried ‘cached’ and found it to be problematic. Plus, people are regularly confronted with the ‘one or more reference files maybe be out of date’ (it doesn’t help when it doesn’t tell you which one) and that worries/confuses people. Plus, we are a bit wary of yet another ‘something happening in the background’ type process.

    For now we feel more comfortable knowing that when the 3D model is updated, those changes ‘should’ just automatically flow through to the Saved Views and Drawings.

    Reading some of the other posts, …. there are then 2 conflicting requirements here

    - on the one hand, when creating a Clip Volume showing a ‘3D View’ you would probably want all the clipped sides to indeed be properly clipped, and show the materials of the objects that are being cut/clipped.

    - on the other hand, when the Clip Volume is used to create a Saved View that will be used for a drawing (plan or section then), you would want only the main clip plane (top for a plan, and front for a section) to actually be ‘clipped’. The side views would not show/include the edges that have been clipped.

    I would then support what was mentioned in the other thread/discussion. 
    The Clip Volume, by default would show all the sides properly clipped. Then, when creating a Saved View, you could have the option of including the ‘side clipping’ or not

    I suppose, if you selected Plan, Section or Elevation (when you create the Saved View), that could automatically remove/ignore the clipped sides

    Anyway, for now then we will just have to ‘live with it’ if it really interferes with things, we’ll just ‘mask out’ the offending/unwanted edges in the Drawing Sheet itself.
