Can you remove the fill of a wall in a section/wall

The walls are having cut patterns assigned to the walls. To remove the cut patterns you can go to Set Reference Presentation and then from there in the General tab, under the cut there is an option called Apply patterns. Unlick that and reload the ref, you will notice that the pattern is no more visible in the drawing, See the attached video forthe steps. I hope this helps you.

Hi Alifur,

You seem to have misunderstood. The walls from my examples are not the walls with the hatch, they are the red dotted line. These have no fill, but still obstruct the view of the sinks. Underneath you can see the cut pattern settings

While the properties and symbology of the wall part are appropriate for demolitions, the element is still a wall and will mask the basin graphics.

The only way round this that I can see is to reference in a separate view of the file containing the demolitions.

First I tried putting the demolished walls into a reference. In the Design Model this results in exactly what you want when a simple clip volume is created:

But the demolished wall cut plane still masks when it intersects with the new wall so that's no good:

Also in a cached Drawing View where the demolitions are from a reference the basins are still cut, although the absence of patterns in the demolished wall does allow them to appear as required when they intersect the new wall:

(Turning off Drawing Symbols in Reference Presentation would use the 3D graphics of the basins, but then you would lose all of the other Drawing Symbols that you still need, so that's also not an option).

This is what I can suggest at present:

Create a Drawing Model using the Callout tool with the referenced demolished walls turned off to show the new construction:

Then reference an additional Saved View into this drawing model containing only the demolitions gives the required result:

Not ideal, but perhaps workable?

Old problem since the beginning of Triforma.

With DEM we made a separate g-file/cut with only geometry to be removed and then referenced that output  into the sheet. And that worked because the DEM ouputted files as lines/wireframe. As far as I know the only way to do it. The good thing is that the removed walls etc changes far less than new things. The separate file also made it easy to ad notes and apply level symbology.

Extra things to set up, but once done worked very well.

As Dynamic Views are opaque that workflow will not work.

As I remember it this was one of the reasons for caching Dynamic Views so they could be only linework. But it didn’t come through, and perhaps as good anyway as it would force you to loop cach, uncach, cach as soon you’ve done a change in your model – for all DVs you have in the project.

We need a setting to tell an element to only become linework and set its symbology in a DV. By Datagroup property Phase or Parts.

Lack of a proper DV-manager is another drawback with DVs as a result of them beeing developed by Platform that doesn't understand the complexity and needs for building cad-work.
