its very hard to help you with so little information. Can you include screenshots of what you are trying to do.

We are simply trying to create a new user defined section. In this case a hollow section like this:

We added a new shape:

And try any resolution:

But when we select the lines it either gives that message error, or simply goes through the process and in the end nothing happens. 

We've tried different types of entities (smart line, complex string, complex shape...) but nothing works. Also for both selection modes...
