Label Coordinates Manual Leader Location

AECOsim Buikding Designer CONNECT Edition

Update 4 - Version 10.04.00.69

Hi All,

I am trying to use a predefined "Label Coordinates" annotation cell (shown in magenta/pink color in the image below) to label coordinates for a clustered set of SOP (Setting Out Points) but I need flexibility with the location of the leader just like that of the "Place Note"  command. I have dropped the cell then use "Insert Vertex" to break its leader but I end up loosing its automated coordinates labelling capabilities

If  i am unable to manually relocate the leader justification then it will become almost impossible to label these clustered set of SOP.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can get around this?

Thank you

Henry Eduvie

  • Hello Henry,

The Label coordinator for V8i use to have handles with the leader line, But in Connect Edition we have noticed that there is no handlers to drag the annotation around. We have a defect filed for the same. Can you please raise a service ticket so that we can link the service ticket with the defect number for tracking and to assist with prioritization.

  • Hi Henry,

We have a suggestion for addressing this question using cells containing text fields and fence manipulation to modify the text box and/or leader terminator position. Please review the video below. The cells used in the video are in the attached cell library along with an additional pair containing only x and y values.

This is demonstrated in MicroStation as platform are tools used. The behaviour is identical in OBD.

While the solution is not ideal, post-placement manipulation steps are needed, it is achievable with existing tools.

  • Hi Marc,

Many thanks for the cell library and the video. Weldone.

Meanwhile, it still does not meet our requirements. why? as you can see from the image below, I copied one of your cells then renamed it, added two vertices between the SOP and the Text fields to ad more flexibilty for justification but one i place it as a cell, i am unable to amend the vertcices. I want  it to work like a "place note" while retaining its annotation properties. Must they be placed as a cell?

  • Hi Henry,

For this suggestion to work they need to be cells as the text fields are linked to the start point of the leader line. If the various elements involved were not in a cell then each instance would be a bunch of separate elements, manual relinking of the text fields to the leader line start point would be needed for each instance.

You could modify the example cells by adding vertices to the leader line which would be modifiable by fence stretch. A bit cumbersome but maybe a viable workaround.

  • Hi Marc,

Is it possible for you to create two brand new left and right side setting out annotation cells using the EXACT style in the attached DGN. Please bear in mind the following:

1 - As shown in the drawing, a slightly more extended return leaders preferred.

2 - As shown in the drawing, one vertex between the start and end of the leaders must be inserted

3 - "Manipulate Fence Contents" command must be able to modify the new cells

4 -  No setting out point (SOP) is needed, just the annotation labels.

5 - Dynamic coordinates must be enabled.

6 - As you will realize in the drawing, a background mask behind the text fields is needed.

7 - A closed filled arrow at the start of the leader would be preferred

    Thanks

    Henry
