Managed to get OBD Connect Edition running well on laptop at home, my question is that as I see there are updates available via Connection Client, does this at last update the program seamlessly requiring just a restart or do I have to go through all of the configuration settings again? If it's the latter I may just leave it!
Keith
Hi Keith,
It depends what you have changed regarding configuration.
Marc
Hi Marc, basically just changed the out of the box program and got it finding my dgnlib for tools as well as adjusting the configuration to find printers, font libraries etc and arranged all toolboxes on the interface. I was hoping it would update and I could just reopen it and it would all be the same as before...but upgraded
The tool boxes, UI docking etc will be saved in your user profile, You can back that up just in case but it should persist.
If you can identify the CFG file(s) that you changed and any resources, they can be backed up and dropped in afterwards.
A Custom Configuration can make this easier and is worthwhile for users of any scale.
Hi Marc, we use a folder called Bentley Resources which we put font libraries, dgnlibs, printer and pen table files etc into to ease configuring.
Not got into the whole Workset concept yet I have to say, just not had time to look into it but it is on my list!
In terms of the UI docking etc, I have tried saving this before but it didnt work so had to setup again. Will try and locate the current file and try again.
Is custom configuration a backstage operation? Basically if i get time i need to get my head round a lot of interface / workset /config operations but its always been a case of get something working so i can get on with my work!
Thanks for taking time to assist.
Hi Marc, updated to Release 8 and it worked apart from my function key menu which was easy to reselect again. I had at some point created a workset and it seemed to retain everything!
Happy days.
