Hi All,
I'm facing a rather surprising issue. When exporting a "container" IFC file with a multiple level reference structure I have set-up the spatial mapping to arrange which of the references should be exported under certain buildings and floors. Then I hit "Save" and close the dialog. I export the IFC file which results in a nice structured IFC file with all the correct building- and floor assignments.
However each time I do any changes to the floor manager (adding/changing a floor, building or reference plane) all of the spatial mapping is reset back to the default value (which is a single building). Is this supposed to happen? I don't like it anyway. I can imagine that when changing a certain building (or floor) that the spatial mapping of that specific building is being reset. But even then the software should give an error message ... Usually you'd have to setup the building/floor structure 1 time at the beginning of the project and don't change it. But I think reference planes are a very legitimate thing to add during the course of a project.
I can only hope this can be solved by some configuration variable? If not, maybe an enhancement request should be filed?
Hello Johan,
I have tried the same thing on our end and I too have noticed that creating a new floor is resetting the Spatial Mapping settings. I will have a discussion with the dev team regarding this.

Thank you for your reply Alifur! Should I log a SR?
Yes please that would be best.
SR 7001362683 filed.
For any future reference or other users facing the same problem: Defect Report 788284 has been filed.
This is actually utterly ridiculous. I am finding that not spatial assignments are lost everytime I close a file.
I have a huge project that consists of 3 buildings and 96 reference files. It takes about an hour to go through and manually select and align the floors every time.
However, not only that, but even after setting the structure, the ifc ignores it anyway, placing everythng on the first building, ignoring the other levels. I am unable to export COBie because of this.
