Export to IFC, why grid is included

Hi everyone

Unlike other posters, I don't want to have grid in my ifc export, and my model doesn't have grid to begin with, but when I make export, somehow a grid show up in the export. Any idea how to turn it off?

I am using Open Buildings Designer Con nect edition update 7, version 10.07.00.105.

This is how it looks like when I "imported" it back to MS (since my solibri is not working). Any idea where i can turn off the grid?

  • Hi Eva,

Some follow up points that may be of interest.

If you do not wish to use the Grid Systems feature then any existing grid(s) may be deleted as Shreya suggested. However the Grid Systems feature offers complete customisation of grids and automation of their display in models and drawings, so we would recommend that you explore it.

Grid Systems are stored in BB_Floormaster.dgnlib. The active BB_Floormaster.dgnlib is determined by the active WorkSet.

When we export to IFC all contents of the active model are exported. To export a sub-set of the elements in a model use the Selection tool to select all of the element required for export.

In a case where Grid Systems were in use we always export the grids as they are a fundamental coordinating element when sharing data. Their display is easily turned of in IFC viewing applications.

When working with IFC it is important that the IFC_WORKSET variable is set correctly, please see IFC and COBie Export - Enabling the Required properties for more information on this.

    Regards

  • Hi Marc

Thank you for your answer. I don't work with grid system, so that's why I don't need it. Background: I am working with world coordinate (I am designing infrastructures, outside the building), so I export to IFC to enable collaboration with my colleagues who work with Revit, hence I don't need grid from my side of work, but good to know as Shreya advised that it could be turned off.
