If I hit space bar in OBD ther is a popup with many tools.
But it takes a secon ot two before it is covered with shortcuts and gets active.
Why?
Only me, or does others see the same?
Hi Thomas,
Can you share the short video showing this delay? Also, let us know the version of OBD you were using.
I have tested in OBD Update 9.1 and don't see such delay. Attached video for your reference.
Please try resetting your user prefs and see if it makes any difference or not.

Shivam Soni
Is there any custom GUI elements being loaded in your configuration? As Shivam suggested you may want to try to reset the user preferences:

This has happened on my machine like always. In U8 and now in U9 as well. I'm pretty certain it's not related to any prefs folder because I have done multiple (clean) reinstalls during the past year and it has always behaved like this.
What's even worse is that the popup is kind of "see-trough" at first and I have to hover over it with my mouse to make it selectable.
I tried creating a screenvideo to show the behaviour. For some reason the behaviour isn't as bad as it usually is when actually working on a project. One thing I noticed is that during this recording it only happened the first time I hit the space bar, not the consecutive times. While usually it's always the case. My main purpose for this menu when working on a project is the "Measure" tool. Couple of weeks ago I stopped using this method and changed to the ribbon menu because of the delay that's always present when using the space bar menu, that should give an idea of how irritating it is.
Agree.
Good old Position mapping is lightning fast and 100% reliably.
Space bar has always a delay, more or less. Pity, because it has potential. Laggy, like most of all CE-tools.
Thanks Peter for the suggestion of using position mapping. I didn't know about this, will try it out!
Isn't it confusing though since the key combinations do something different depending on the active ribbon?
