If I hit space bar in OBD ther is a popup with many tools.
But it takes a secon ot two before it is covered with shortcuts and gets active.
Why?
Only me, or does others see the same?
Agree.
Good old Position mapping is lightning fast and 100% reliably.
Space bar has always a delay, more or less. Pity, because it has potential. Laggy, like most of all CE-tools.
Thanks Peter for the suggestion of using position mapping. I didn't know about this, will try it out!
Isn't it confusing though since the key combinations do something different depending on the active ribbon?
Position mapping has been around since the pyramids. Not to be mistaken for the keybord shortcuts of the ribbon in CE (I don't know if this tool has a name). I can't use it. It's too confusing.
Position mapping and Task was removed in CE for a while. But I think Bentley has realized their misstake and readded it later versions.Check it out under Preferences -> Position mapping.
This is what I found about position mapping: CONNECT Edition - Using Position Mapping to get to Tools Really Quickly! - Looking under the bonnet... - Peer Blogs - Bentley Communities
It is indeed under Preferences -> Position mapping. From what I understand it uses the keyboard shortcuts to show that part of the ribbon on the position of the cursor. It certainly is quicker than moving the cursor, certainly on a multi-monitor setup. If there was the option to activate another tab of the ribbon trough keyboard shortcuts that would make it even more useful.
