Hi,
I am trying to do not to assign any Project and Site/Building info in the Spatial Structure group box when exporting the IFC file. This is because I do not want it to show many breakdowns in the Selection Tree (Naviswork 2020) for coordination.
Does anyone know how to do it? Thank you~
Hi Ting,
Can you please let us know which version of OpenBuildings Designer you are using?

Spatial containment is a fundamental part of the IFC information structure.
I understand there is an option in Navisworks to turn off display of spatial containment.
Regards
Marc
My OBD version is above
I agree with Marc. Proper IFC files do have the spatial structure, there is no escape. Some software (like Tekla for example, but unfortunately also Bentley's ProStructures) don't export any spatial structure resulting in non-compliant IFC files.

I just checked the options in the IFC "File Reader" for Navisworks, I couldn't find anything that completely ignores the spatial structure.
@Ting Wei Wong, what you could do in the spatial mapping in OBD is to put everything on the "Site". That way you'll have two levels less (no "Building" and no "Building Storey". But as I started my reply, that would only result in non-compliant IFC and I honestly don't see any reason to.
Hi, Marc
Thanks for replying.
I also check the Naviswork to find the spatial containment turn off function. The only method found is to change the Selection Tree view from "Standard" to "Compact". Marc, do you means this method?
