If I place a compound cell (window) so that it perforates a compound wall; and the cell is so constructed that it should mask any of the wall around it when seen in section, why am I seeing the forward view lines merging with the cell during a DEM extraction?
The cut plane is calculating correctly, but the forward view of the compound cell is not being calculated, letting the walls forward view show through.
This behavior does not occur in a dynamic view cut, but then the cells parts&families do no unify with the wall where they should.
Yes... for whatever reason the issue seemed to be specific to the 8.11.5 release - the Compound Cell displays correctly in both XM and 8.11.7. To verify whether the cause is the same in your case, perhaps you can install the 8.11.7 beta to test? It does work side by side with the 8.11.5 commercial release.
This happens in DV not just with Compound cells
My Plans look fine but if you hover over items that you don't see start popping up. this causes things like floor for ceiling grid to be bounded by those hidden elements.
The hidden elements in some cases are walls below the slab.

Nah, this was an entirely different scenario. In DVs you're referring to the way elements temporarily highlight when hovering over them. But in this case it was a Compound Cell that wasn't hiding elements below it when extracted.
Yes, that's exactly what I was referring to - whether calling it ghosting, highlight, etc.
But the issue described in this thread was not that at all.
