Hi all,
just to set the scene first of how my models etc are setup:
I have a DMC model which is kind of like a coordination model with all models referenced into and this is where I create all of my plans and sections etc from. Then I would create either a DMA or DMX model file with either the plan or section. The final step I create a separate sheet model and then reference either the DMA plan or the DMX section into the sheet model. This is my main workflow.
The problems that I'm having is that I setup a saved view within the DMC (coordination model) with the display how I want it to look i.e. cut size, element colour, line style, line weight etc. Then when I open the DMA/DMX the display styles dont always seem to retain and I have to fiddle with all the display styles to make it look correct again. Then when I open the final sheet model that has referenced the DMA/DMX again none of the display settings I previously made have disappeared and I dont know how to make it look the same as the original saved view or the DMA/DMX? Is there a way to kind of lock these settings in and make it consistent across the different models?
Apologies if this is a very noob type question, its just that I'm struggling to find any training videos etc of how this type of thing is meant to work.
Kind regards
Steven
Hi Dominic,
I'm using OpenBuildings Designer Edition Update 8 Version 10.08.00.44.
Hi Steve,
Are you not using Dynamic Views?
I see that you are on HS2. Is there not a detailed drawing set up guide? Only asking because there are a few variations possible. And also being track related there will probably be other alignment related requirements?
Display Styles going missing: It would be good to check that the Display Styles are stored centrally in a dgnlib? Sounds like they are not always available?
Editing dgnlibs and synching from/to them are tricky. And if you are working on PW, you will need the relevant access rights. Tricky even on a regular LAN, apparently.

As far as I'm aware I am using dynamic views https://communities.bentley.com/resized-image/__size/320x240/__key/communityserver-components-multipleuploadfilemanager/d94febf2_2D00_c397_2D00_4e1e_2D00_a2ef_2D00_081b3c36ae91-1207804-complete/pastedimage1664199001256v1.png
I'm not too sure if there is a detailed drawing setup guide, but I will ask the client if there is one now. I'm not really sure about the dgnlibs either. How would you usually get around the syncing problems of dgnlibs on projects like this that is managed by a client through ProjectWise?
Thanks for your answer though, sometimes just knowing the right questions to ask is what is needed.

Usually need to speak to your client's PW admin about setting you up correctly. Depending on their experience this may or may not take some time. A lot of admins are ex CAD Admins who know Mstn or OBD but not PW. Others come from an doc controller backgound and dont know Mstn/OBD and some are from an IT background and dont know anything about what Mstn/OBD needs or PW :-)
If you dont get anywhere get your PM to escalate. Time is money and if you can show your client is preventing you from working then there are big penalties.
