Display style for outside cut

Hi

I often use the clip volume and its section clip tool to visualize while I work.

But one thing that bothers me is that when I clip all sides, the outside planes don't have a display style. They are just unfilled. See the image below, where the blue mark is the sections plane and red are outside planes. Both forward and cut  volume clip settings are sett to the displaystyle illustration:ignore lighting. The brown and green is filled, and the boundaries of the element react to snap (image 2). Compared to the planes in all other directions (with the blue handles). They are not filled (image 3) and their elements don't react to snap in the cut plane. Is it possible to do anything about this?

  • Hi Robert,

From what I understand is that when we are clipping all the sides of an element the outside planes don't have any display styles. So, can you please share this DGN file with us for our further testing?

Also, can you please let us know which version of OpenBuildings Designer you are using?

Hi, here's the model I took some screenshots from above.

I'm not sure if you understood my exact problem. Let me put it this way:
In this video on this topic:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmqjyT4ZrG8
    A
t 3:25 the walls outside of the clip (to the left) looks hollow. But at 3:30 as he enters a placement point, the walls get a white look, it's no longer hollow. And somewhere between 4:03 and 4:04 he is dragging the mouse pointer over the slab that is in the outside's cut-plane. You can see it's lighting up in purple as it's selectable. Mine is just dead.

Thats what I want. Not hollow walls and selectable/snapable elements for the outside cut-planes.

  • Hi Robert,

I know this one is a bit old, but I was curious so had a look at your file.  There seems to be something "off" about the elements themselves. They were originally created in V8i and brought across to CONNECT Edition, correct? Do you know if any modifications were made in V8i after being modified in CE?

To test, I placed a new single layer slab with four different walls on top, then added a few openings to each wall. The results look correct:

Next, I copied about 100 of the existing elements into a new file (thru a reference attachment) and placed a plan callout. While there's a lot of green it still looks about right:

If you'd like further pursue this one I would suggest filing a Service Request so that support can further investigate the contents of your file.

  • Hello

It might be that those elements are created in ss6. I haven't thought of that. I guess there are a couple of adjustments done to the geometry of most elements, but not sure.

The walls do look correct, but the slab you have placed don't. It's that none-filled part I see as the problem.

I had a look at a newer file, where I know nothing is created in ss6, but same thing here:

  • It should be these Variable _USTN_SUPPRESS_CROPPLANESECTIONGRAPHICS. Should be 0 to show the side Geometry

    C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\OpenBuildingsDesigner\Config\appl\BuildingDesigner.cfg

Maybe something to talk about on the Swedish User Conference ;)
