Hi, I have downloaded Open Buildings Designer - an educational license as I am an Architecture Student. The 2D Drawing works very well however when I change tabs from Drawing the Building Design... All the 3D tools are frosted out and blocked. I can't use any. Was there a way to gain access to 3D on an education license? Or another Bentley software I can download to use 3D?

Use a 3d seed file

As James suggest, indeed check which Seed file is used when creating a new file:
Each Dataset should contain various seed files (kind of template, for those who don't speak Bentley ). Designseed should contain a 3D model.
Alternatively you could create new models inside of a file:
Use the drowdown for "Type" to select "Model", then next to it "3D".
